An equation is a mathematical statement, in symbols, that two
things are the same (or equivalent). Equations are written with
an equal sign, as in    2 + 3
= 5.

Number sentences containing the equal sign (=)
symbol are equations.
An Inequality is a statement about the relative size or order of
two objects. Could be
greater than
 >  less than < or not equal to

Example:  4 x 4 < 20 This inequality says 4 times 4 is less than
20.
Inequalities
Number sentences that do not contain an equal  sign
(=) are called
inequalities
equation examples:
8 + 9 =17
7 = 7
15 - 9 = 10 ?
An equation could be true are false. As you know
15 - 9 = 6  not 10
Inequalities examples:
7 + 9 < 20
20 > 9 * 3 ?
25 4 * 5
Just like equations, Inequalities could be true are false. As you
know the inequality 20 > 9 x 3  is false, because 9 x 3 equals 27

less than or equal to
