The volume of a solid like a rock is the amount of
space it occupies. The volume of container like a
microwave oven is a measure of how much it will
hold.

Volume is measured in cubic units.

Examples: A cubic centimeter has sides that are 1
centimeter (cm). A cubic inch has sides that are 1
inch. A cubic foot has sides are 1 foot. A cubic yard
has sides that are 1 yard. A cubic meter has sides
that are 1 meter.

Capacity
Capacity is use to measured volume of something
that can be poured into a container like water (call

). The capacity is the amount a
container can hold when it is full.

The units of capacity are gallons, quarts, pints, cups,
